All About Bayside Elementary

Bayside Elementary School is located on Kent Island in Queen Anne’s County.  We are located near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, the gateway to Maryland’s beautiful Eastern Shore.  The school building was opened in September of 1991 as a second building to Kent Island Elementary School It housed 2nd through 4th grades.  Since then, it has accommodated many grade level configurations which have changed with the needs of our community.   In 1995, 5th grade returned to the elementary schools and Bayside Elementary was established as a separate school for 3rd to 5th grades.  During the 2007-2008 school year, 2nd grade returned to Bayside Elementary School to make room for Kent Island Elementary School’s renovations.  During the 2009-2010 school year, grades 2 and 3 were moved back to the Kent Island Elementary School building in order to make room for Bayside’s HVAC renovation.

For the 2010-2011 school year, we have returned to housing grades 3 through 5.  Bayside Elementary School is now home to approximately 400 students.  We have seventeen classrooms (six 3rd grade, five 4th grade, and five 5th grade) as well as our Regional Autism Program which specializes in meeting the needs of students on the Autism spectrum.  We are an inclusive school that offer students instruction in the core subject areas of Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies as well as Music, Art, Physical Education, and Media.
