CES PTA NEWS Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. We are excited to begin a new school year and we welcome those parents and staff that are new to CES. We have been working hard this summer to plan new activities, assemblies and events. We hope you are able to help out in some may. This is an overview of what is happening in PTA. We will send home more specific information about each program as well. *We look forward to seeing you on Sept 14th at 6:00pm for our first General PTA meeting and Open House. We will approve our budget that night as well as tell you what has been planned for the year. We will have samples available from the fall fundraisers. We will also be hosting a first day donuts for Pre-K and Kindergarten parents on Sept 6th at 9:00am. *Please have your child turn in their Summer Reading and Writing Form and Journal as soon as possible. We are planning an assembly to reward these students for their effort. Please turn them in no later than September 12th. *Please join PTA for $7.00. Membership forms will be sent home the first week of school. We will also be available at Open House to accept memberships. The membership dues help pay for assemblies, field day, family nights, field trip buses and many more activities. We will be having a membership drive thru October 1st. The class with the most members will receive a classroom reward. You may join PTA without any obligation to volunteer. We appreciate all your support! *This year we will continue to collect Box Tops and Labels for Education. The collection of box tops really made a difference for our school. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents and the labels are worth points. You may send them in a baggie labeled with your child’s teacher or you can attach them to the collection sheets. Please send them in separate baggies. We are having a competition to start off the year. Please send in as many box tops and labels as you can by September 30th so we can submit them for our first check in November. Please go on www.givebacktoschools.avery.com to vote for our school to receive box tops, school supplies and more. *We will be collecting Tyson’s labels this year. They are located on the top of specific chicken nugget bags. They are worth 24 cents for each one submitted. Please send them in a baggie labeled with your child’s teacher. *We will continue to participate in the Food lion and Safeway script programs. If you have a Target credit card you can earn money for our school as well. Please sign up for these valuable programs. *Please participate in the Fall fundraisers. We use this money to fund all events and activities for the year. Please follow the guidelines and the due dates so it will make it easier on the fundraiser chairperson.
