| Welcome! Dear Parents, I am excited to have your student in my class this year! All students can succeed in math. However, this success requires considerable effort and support. Students are much more successful in mathematics when they study with other students than when they work alone. As a result, students will spend some time in class working in pairs or groups. I also encourage them to work with other students outside of class. In addition, I am available before school for extra help. Furthermore, I need your support. Specifically, show interest in your student's mathematics work by asking what he/she did in class daily. Encourage him/her to work hard daily. Check his/her progress by asking to see independent practice, notes, tests, and quizzes weekly. Thank you for your cooperation. It is crucial for students to have their text and notebook with them everyday. For algebra students: in class students will be able to use graphing calculators provided by the school. You may choose to purchase a graphing calculator for your student for use outside of class, though the purchase is not required. Please feel free to contact me at (macnealm@qacps.k12.md.us or 410-758-0883) as I strongly believe open communication between teacher, student, parent is vital to your student's success.
