The 2011-2012 Marching Lions
Band held their 2011 Mini Camp on May 31, June 1 and 3 from 6-8PM
at the High School. In addition to introducing the basics to the
new members, they band began working on the music for the 2011 field
show, Cirque du Soliel: Ka.

The Marching Lions held
their two weeks of Band Camp July 25 - 29 and August 1 - 5.
They closed out the camp with a preview performance for family,
friends, and alumni at 11:00AM on the last day.

The 2011 Queen Anne's County
Fair was kicked off by a performance from the 2011 Marching Lions
Band as they presented the music from their 2011 production of Cirque
du Soliel: Ka. After the opening ceremonies, the band also led
the fair parade around the 4-H Park as they played "Malaguenia."

On Saturday, September 24th,
the Marching Lions Band traveled to Lake Forest High School in Felton,
DE for their first competition of the season. They began thier
season with a score to a 76.45 which also earned them First Place over
Brandywine HS.

On Saturday, October 8th,the
Marching Lions Band Traveled to the William Penn High School TOB
Competition that was held at Frawley Stadium, Home of the Wilmington
Blue Rocks Baseball Team, in Wilmington, DE and gave another
outstanding performance at their 2nd competition of the season.
After a weekend off from competition due to Homecoming last weekend,
and two weeks of hard work, the kids proved that work in their
performance that earned them a 5.55 point increase and improved their
score to a 82.00 and again earning a First Place finish over Brandywine
HS along with the awards for Best Drum Major and Best Percussion.
- On Thursday, October 13th, the Symphonic
Band along with the Concert Choir and Dance Classes presented the 20110
Pops Concert. This year the audience enjoyed various Folksongs.
- On Saturday, October 15th, the Marching
Lions Band Traveled to the Parkside High School "Delmarvacade" TOB
Competition that was held at Wicomico County Stadium, in Salisbury, MD
and gave another outstanding performance at their 3rd competition of
the season. After a week of continual cleaning, the kids gave a
performance that earned them another increase in score by 2.55 points
for score of 84.55. This score is not only the highest score of
the season, but also the highest score the band has earned since making
its return back to T.O.B. nine seasons ago. In addition to
getting a 1st place finish over Chesapeake HS, the Marching Lions
brought home the honor of Best Percussion.
- On Saturday, October 22nd, the Marching
Lions Band traveled to the Tournament of Bands Chapter 9 Championships
for their final regular season competition hosted by Appoquinimink High
School in Middletown, DE and gave a performance like no other before
it. As a result they won the honor and title of “T.O.B.
Chapter 9 Group 1 Champions” with a score of 87.05. Along
with this accomplishment, they also brought home the awards for 1st
place Music, 3rd Place Visual, 2nd Place Drum Major, and 3rd Place
Percussion. The band will now travel to Hershey Park Stadium in
Hershey, PA this coming weekend to attend the Tournament of Bands
Atlantic Coast Championships representing the Greater Delaware,
Southern Maryland, and Chesapeake Bay Region in the competition with
bands coming from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West
Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and North Carolina.
- On Sunday, October 30th, the Marching
Lions Band traveled to Hershey, PA for the 2011 Tournament of Bands
Atlantic Coast Championships. Coming out of the previous week's
Regional Chapter Championships as the as the Regional Champions, they
advanced on to the post season championships ranked in the #12 position
in all of the Tournament of Band's Competition Circuit. The band
once again showed the evidence of their hard work from over the week
and improved their score another 2.05 points for a 12th Place finish
and a final season score of an 89.1. This is a
total improvement in score over a five week period of 12.65
points. After doing some research in the T.O.B. Archives, we also
discovered this to be the highest score in the band's T.O.B. history.
- On Friday, November 11th, the Freshmen
Concert Band along with the Concert Choir performed as a part of the
Centreville Veteran's Day Ceremony. The band began by playing a
few selections prior to the ceremony, followed by the Concert Choir
opening with the National Anthem. Just before the ceremony
concluded, the band and choir performed a combined patriotic number
titled, "Our America".
- On Thursday, December 1st, the Jazz
Ensemble, Freshmen Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Marching Band
along with the Choral Musicianship Ensemble and Concert Choir presented
the 2011 Sounds of the Holiday Season Winter Concert. The evening
was well attending and the music was enjoyed by all.
- On Thursday, December 15th, the Jazz
Ensemble took a winter tour to Sudlersville Elementary, Church Hill
Elementary, Centreville Elementary, and Kennard Elementary shareing
their Holiday cheer through music. They also used this as an
educational opportunity to educate their audience about the make up of
a Jazz Band.
- On Saturday, January 28th, QACHS had twenty students to audition with
fourteen students selected. Out of the fourteen students
selected, five started there day auditioning for the Sr. All-Shore
Choir. All five of these students were selected for both
ensembles. Of those five students, two of them were among the
three students that accomplished making it into the first chair
position for their instrument.

- On Thursday, February 23rd, we
had 12 events attend District Solo and Ensemble Festival held at
Centreville Middle School. Out of these 12 events, we had 1 group
that performed for comments only, 5 that received an
“Excellent” rating, and 6 that received a
“Superior” rating. Those 6 groups that received the
"Superior" rating will will now have the opportunity to attend the
State Solo and Ensemble Festival at Towson University in May.
- On Wednesday, March 15th,
the Concert/Symphonic Bands
traveled to Wicomico High School for our District
Band Festival and received 2 ”Superior” and 1 “Excellent”
ratings for our stage performance, and then a “Superior”
rating in Sight Reading. This earned us an
overall ”Superior” rating and qualifies us to go to the
State Band Festival for the second year in a row.
