"To inspire young people to become involved in service,
to advocate for and educate others about service-learning,
and to build bridges between young people and adults by
opening minds to the power of youth to make a difference."
-Youth R.I.S.E. Mission Statement
Welcome to Queen Anne's County Youth R.I.S.E.
Students in Youth RISE participate in a variety of community service events throughout the year.
News & Upcoming Events
Food Drive 2009
The food drive this year was done in
partnership with the Maryland Food Bank and Dr. Grasmick's "Kids Feeding
Kids" program. What made our collection unique is that our food got to
stay in Queen Anne's County, specifically, the Food Pantry's at Sudlersville
Methodist Church and Mother of Sorrows Church in Centreville. Almost
6000 estimated pounds of food were collected from the high school.
QACHS senior Brooke D. had a contagious enthusiasm that resulted in the
overwhelming success of this food drive. She motivated our
students to get involved and "make a difference".
2009 Blood Drive
December 12
8:00-1:30 QACHS Lobby
Once again our school is partnered with the Delmarva Blood Bank to
collect donations of blood units from our community. Each one of these units
can save lives of three people in need of Help. Recipients include cancer
patients, newborn babies, kids with leukemia, auto accident victims - likely
someone you know. QACHS collected 53 units of blood. There is
another Blood Drive scheduled for Wednesday, March 10. Contact Kathy
Terry for more information.
FYI: QACHS tied for second place on the Eastern Shore with the most units
of blood collected for 08-09'. Congratulations to this committee for a
job well done!

Children's Christmas Party
December 18, 2009
In partnership with Dept. of Social Services, QA Co. Health Dept, Chamber of Commerce, Local Churches
and community organizations. Youth RISE students built the holiday set
for pictures with Santa and provided games, crafts and activities for
children in attendance. This year our numbers were considerably larger
than years past but the Youth RISE students did an amazing job entertaining
all of their little friends.
Adopt-A-Family -2009
Youth RISE works with Mother of Sorrows Church to help families from the Centreville community who are struggling financially. Clubs, organizations, classrooms, faculty and administration "adopt" an assigned family to purchase gifts and provide dinner. QACHS helped 19 families from Centreville this Christmas. Thanks to all who made that possible!
