Greetings from
the STMS Band Room!
Your children
have been working incredibly hard this semester and I am very proud
of all of the work they have done and continue to do. On that note
(no pun intended!), I have A LOT of information to update you
with regarding our final two upcoming performances before our Win

Centreville Christmas Parade @ 6:30
I have
attached a
permission slip
for parade that
allows your child to ride the bus and perform. Please have that
signed and turned into me by Tuesday, November 29. There is also an
emergency medical form that
needs to be filled out and sent back in with the permission slip.
County policy has it that I need to have that info with me whenever
I take that kids off campus. And of course we always want to be
safe!
We will be having two after school marching band practices on Monday
and Wednesday, November 28th and 30th until
4:30pm. I would like to have as many students as possible at these
rehearsals as we do not get to rehearse together during the school
day, so these are our only opportunities to do so.
If you would like to take your child home after the parade and not
have them ride the bus back, please fill out the
attached travel release form. I must have that in
my hands before we leave from school for the parade (county
policy). Any student that does not have one will be brought back to
school.
I am
looking for parents to volunteer to: ride the busses, meet us a BOE
and help out with snacks for the kids, help load and unload, walk
with the kids during the parade, and anything else that might need
an adult. I’m probably looking for about 10-12 parents to ride the
busses over with us. Darlene Harbaugh, Haley’s Mom, has volunteered
to be in charge of snacks for the kids after the parade and was
looking at cookies and hot chocolate. If you are interested in
helping, please let me know and Darlene know. Her email is
visionshs@atlanticbb.net.
Thursday, December 8,
2011: STMS Holiday Band Concert (@STMS
We
will be having a mandatory after school rehearsal for the concert on
Wednesday, December 7 until 5pm in the cafeteria. It is extremely
important to not only your child, but to the entire band as well
that they are there. Absence from this rehearsal could result in
not being allowed to perform in the concert. We do not get to
rehearse together during the school day, so these are our only
opportunities to do so.
*Just as a
reminder…any student that does not attend either of the performances
will have an alternative written assignment. If your student
becomes ill or if there is an emergency issue, please either call me
or drop me an email.*
Some quick info about the STMS Band Jackets:
These jackets are property
of the band and must be returned the Monday/Tuesday following the
parade. Any student that does not return their jacket will be
charged for the cost of the jacket.
On a
different note…
I would like to have a parent meeting for any parents that can
attend on Wednesday, November 30 at 6:00pm. Mr. Kenna was extremely
kind and helpful with getting us these jackets (in a pinch!) and
loaning us the money to do so. So some fundraising is in order! I
would also like to discuss fundraising for our spring trip in the
spring and for various music things (i.e.—tuba mouthpieces). We can
also talk about the snacks for the kids for after the parade as
well.
I know I am throwing A LOT of information at you all at once, and I
apologize. But I also thank you for allowing me to work with your
children and for all that you do. If you have any questions
whatsoever, please feel free to email me or call me at school. |
