GREEN NEWS
Congratulations to all
of us here at STMS on becoming a certificated Maryland Green School!
How can you help? Just
keep doing your part by reducing waste, reusing items that can be reused,
recycling paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum, glass, junk mail, etc..
Coming soon:
Chesapeake Bay Clean-up Field Trip!?!
Get Green Schooled!
Stevensville Middle School is going GREEN! That is, we
are trying to achieve official “Green School” status from The Maryland
Association for Environmental & Outdoor Education. What that means is that
over the next 2 years we must complete a series of objectives laid out by
the MAEOE.
This will require school-wide participation from students, teachers, staff,
PTSA, parents and families, and the surrounding community, businesses and
the like. We are asking for your help and consideration in this matter.
What can you do? Here are a few things that can make a difference.
AT HOME:
-Recycle all your own trash that is recyclable: plastic, aluminum,
cardboard, mixed paper, magazines, etc..
-Buy products made of recycled materials and products that are
environmentally friendly.
-Turn off electronics when not in use and unplug appliances when not in use.
-DO NOT THROW any electronic
devices such as cell phones, computers, printer cartridges, TV’s, etc. in
the trash. Please dispose of them properly.
AT STMS:
-Send your child to school with re-usable containers for
lunch instead of disposable plastic baggies.
-Bring in small, re-useable “junk” to the Art Room so art students can make
cool art (no glass please)!
